Blackburn Roll Call
at 15:40 18 Sep 2025

The train costs are sickening, we’ve taken to driving and often staying over as it’s cheaper than the train

Sounds more like a TS30/TS50, typically in line with speeding offences 3pts, £100 fine but you never know

I think the statute of limitations is actually 6 months but for speeding you normally get a Notice of Intended Prosecution with fourteen days

A ‘CD10’ conviction is more than a speeding etc and normally you’d expect the police to attend the scene though I’m presuming that the footage was clear enough for the police to deem the conviction applicable (effectively they’d be saying that the driver was too close to the car in front). It’s been a while since I was in insurance but the usual outcome was 6 pts and £200 fine. I don’t think the 14 days is relevant. It will make a significant difference to the insurance too.

Dhaka is the best in town but pricey. Bekash is good and great value for money. Very underrated.

Who do you rate the worst keeper over the years
at 17:46 5 Aug 2025

Prefer to discuss the best 3 which for me were:
Wright
Forrest
Bart

No way Sereni was the worst keeper - he was a top drawer shot stopper just a shame about the off field stuff

One of my favourite players to watch. Will remember his contribution in the Port Vale and Wednesday games. Wish him all the best. Seems like a move that suits everyone.

Help with car insurance...
at 13:58 10 Jul 2025

It's going to be expensive. Largely the comparison sites have similar insurers and cover 90% of the market. The things that will make a difference if he's just past his test are the name the insurance is under. Some insurers will let you/your ex insure the car and add the younger person as a named driver (this can depend on access to other vehicles etc...) which is a way to get some experience. If they've had some experience already as a named driver then speak to a person (somewhere like Adrian Flux) and they will be able to underwrite something more bespoke.
Alternatively looking direct at Admiral - they do some 10m policies which mean you pay the premium for a shorter period and most companies accept as 1yrs NCB, or Tesco's/Direct Line were always OK for first time drivers as long as the car wasn't crazy.
A few insurers used to also offer a discount for "Pass Plus" which was a little additional course you could do once passed your test (not sure if this is still a thing) or adding a parent on the policy but those weren't big savers more like 10/15%

Tim Southee, Jason Holder, Vernon Philiander, you could also say Anderson and Broad in later years too

Cook deserves a run, he's been brilliant in county cricket and shown he can bowl with the kookaburra ball. Carse and Atkinson are a bit similar but unlike Cook they offer something with the bat. The spinner is the issue for me. I'm not sure we have one good enough. Bashir's angle all look wrong, pushing the ball leg side rather than the drift and dip of a Swann or Lyon. It means more pressure on the inexperienced seamers. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually Bethell is in the Mo Ali role at 7/8 as the spinner, supported by Root.

What is it with West Midlands clubs?
at 15:47 16 Feb 2025

I've been to a fair few league 1, championship and premier league grounds over the last couple of years and thought Villa was one of the worst. Surrounding area unwelcoming, unable to get a drink inside and the concourse was a narrow corridor. Thankfully the result and performance made it a good day still.

A few thoughts on where we are now
at 13:04 23 Sep 2024

I agree with most of this and with Clive's response too. We weren't that bad on Saturday, despite some of the comments and are getting better game on game. This'll improve even more so as the group start to understand how McKenna wants them to play and they get to know each other more. Where we do need to get a little better is our creativity and limit those defensive lapses. We could afford the odd one in the Championship but not so in the Premier League. I think OShea's pace will end up making us much more secure at the back and there's little doubt the players we've added are of real quality. My slight reservation is up top. I like Hirst, I love the start Delap has made and I realise that the 'number 9' scoring a bucket load of goals isn't necessarily the KmcK way but I do think we're maybe a little short there, especially as we're not creating the number of chances we were before. on the other hand if anyone can get it going it's the management team we have now! Everything I've seen suggests if we keep working and improving there are at least 3 worse sides than us, if not more. Southampton, Leicester, Everton, Wolves all look vulnerable to me and I'm not convinced by Brentford or Bournemouth either, so plenty of opportunity IMO for a successful campaign

€27m offer in for Fotis Ioannidis…
at 09:38 24 Jul 2024

Interesting that he’s reportedly agreed terms with Sporting and Bologna before too but not being reported as agreeing terms with us. You’d assume he’s given us encouragement to keep bidding but does this mean we just don’t leak this stuff? Or are we agreeing a fee first? Or does he really not want to come?
