Just a couple of thoughts on Nigel making an appearance at our beloved football ground.

I take a keen interest in politics and always have done. I'm not shocked that the country is on the verge of voting in either a far right fascist or a fat left loonie after Brexit, pandemic, economic meltdown, awful mismanagement from successive governments for nearly two decades. I probably sit somewhere between the centre and the centre right but who knows now given the state of politics in this country. Both of the previous major parties whatever they do now cannot hope to gain the ground back.

My point is this. Reform is a very popular party in this country and is actually ahead in the polls and however awful that is for some I can see how we got here. On any other circumstances the leader of a popular political party should be welcomed to have a loon around the ground without using the opportunity to promote their party. There is no way the club should have allowed this to happen and there is no way the somebody at the club was not aware it was about to happen. Somebody okayed it and set it up and nobody put a stop to it while it was happening.

In my opinion one of the following should happen.

1) the club should own up to it. Sack the people involved and distance themselves from the those people (I almost hope it is Ashton as I'm not a massive fan of his)

2) They should go after Farage (maybe dangerous) for not getting the go ahead from the sponsors and the club (if that happened) for using their name in a political campaign.

I dislike the politics intensely of farage and Polanski and feel these are dangerous times for this country. To have Ipswich associated with either of them would on my opinion be a catastrophic mistake from the club.

The last thing we should do is go after Farage. He’d love it. He thrives of being able to play the victim. It’s not a sacking offence either imo, although lessons do need to be learnt.

Centre Right must be a hard place to be right now. Who resonates with your outlook? One nation Tories would have been in that space, but the Brexit fiasco led to them all resigning or being purged. The LDs? Blue Labour is partly in that space economically, but much further right on immigration and further left on some other social issues, so in a very odd space with no clear position on the spectrum.

I can imagine there are a lot of centre righties who feel politically homeless. I don’t know what I am, probably centre left, yet I’ve felt homeless for many years. The thing I would value beyond any particular ideology is competence, but that seems in short supply.

Yep that's why I said it would be dangerous to go after him.

Yes i have struggled for a long time too vote for anybody. All seem particularly incompetent and self serving so agree with you there. No idea what labour are doing at the minute, seems to be as you say throwing policies out with no clear underpinning ideology or direction (and then back tracking just as quickly). The Tories jabs been hopeless for a long time. In reality it's going to be like Germany or the Netherlands with a mix of parties supporting each other and nothing getting done.
