Obviously we would love to do the double over them with them having been our bogey side for a few years now. But how does our position of being second with 2 games in hand make any game for us right now a must-win? Clearly he is just trying to put pressure on us by claiming it. We can afford to draw or lose 2 matches even including the one against Boro. Clearly we would rather not do that.

For them, they are 8 points off the play offs with 5 to play. So either he is writing off their chances of getting into them or it is absolutely a must-win for them. To be fair, an honest assessment does give up their chances of making the play offs from 8 points behind. He has the luxury of writing his team off too because he can say he had too much to do from the position he was in when he took over. And that is a perfectly reasonable assessment as well.

Following Millwall's result, providing we beat Middlesbrough we can afford to lose three games even if nether don't drop any further points in their other games.

As you rightly say we'd rather not lose and the players certainly can't start thinking that way and of course the Middlesbrough match is far, far from a guaranteed win, much like any of our other fixtures. But it does mean that the Norwich match is not exactly must-win. A loss is not disastrous (although always more disappointing against them), a draw would be fine, a win would be fantastic. But not a must-win.

And the only way it isn't a must-win for them is that they have acknowledged they have nothing left to play for ... not even bragging rights in the local derby!
