If McKenna does go this summer (I think he does btw), you would expect Ashton to already have planned for it and I’d imagine they’ll be very similar profiles to what we went for with KMc.
Personally I wouldn’t expect us to go down the obvious route of a 'name' manager or at least someone who has managed in the Prem already e.g Cooper with limited success.
I'd expect a similar model meaning a younger, highly rated coach already working at a top level club. Someone like Justin Cochrane at Spurs or Aaron Danks at Bayern (yes, a big ask I know) High-level coaches used to elite environments and focused on player development, that sounds familiar doesnt it..

Mousinho is a fair shout but I do think the club will be looking at the next one before everyone else does or has already taken a chance one them. That’s basically the model that’s got us here, so I’d be surprised if we moved away from it. [Post edited 16 Apr 2:48]

I wonder, if Barry and Cochrane are indeed the absolute preferred options that some kind of pre-contract is agreed and they come in as head coach as opposed to manager in the same vein as McKenna?
If we've created a similar structure to Brentford, then what's to say Pert et al cannot run a 'copy-and-paste' pre-season (I know that's disingenuous, but you know what I mean).
We'd then be reliant on a few conversations to be had on transfers, but there's a department that should do that, managers/coaches these days don't always pick the players.
We'd need to know a preferred formation to work with and perhaps wait 5 weeks before the new persona can pick their marquee signing, but it's possible?
Otherwise, imo, it's a straight shoot between OGS and O'Neil.

Matt Wells COULD be an interesting option. He’s young, ENGLISH, only 37, and has a STRONG developmental profile. Like Cochrane, he has Tottenham experience, and he’s also worked under both Thomas Frank and Ange Postecoglou. On top of that, his current team (Colorado Rapids) have been playing a style of football with similarities to McKenna’s approach. . [Post edited 22 Jun 21:19]

I’d be happy with Aaron Danks. Worked under Boothroyd, Gerrard, Carrick & Kompany, now with elite players. Been reading his preferred system is also a 4-2-3-1 - It’s a yes from me. | | | |
