Highest Finishes of Teams Not to Play in English Football's Top Flight

This is a case of guessing the teams (those that still exist, that is) to have finished in the top 12 of the second tier without playing in the top division. There are now 21 to try and get, the latest addition having recorded their highest league finish to date in this season's Championship. I think nine of the 21 answers posted their best-ever finishes from the 1991/92 season onwards. The earliest came in 1892/93, the first year of the Second Division.

There are now 45 answers to guess after two new teams were relegated from League Two this season. One of those two had previously dropped out of the league decades ago, but that was through failing to be re-elected. |  |
