Another quiz if anybody fancies typing out the names of numerous football clubs...

Every English Third-Tier Football Club Since 1992

With it being almost a year since we gained promotion from League One, a division we hopefully will not be visiting for a very long time, how many of the teams to play in the third tier since 1992 can you name? (I used 1992 as the cut-off point as I had done so in a previous quiz in this format on the second tier and, of course, that is when football began...)

There have been lots of different clubs in the Second Division/League One over that time, from some big names of the English game to relative minnows that have not played higher than that level.

I have added a 20-minute time limit if anyone fancies having a go — you may find that this is more than enough, but do let me know if it isn't. The answers are listed alphabetically and there are 92 to try and get. You can pause the quiz if you need to for whatever reason — to do this on mobile, tap the "+" icon and then the blue "Pause" button. The website lets you do this up to three times.

English Football Clubs That Have Played in Europe

I've made another football quiz if anybody would like to have a go. With only one English side left in Europe this season, how many of the teams from this country that have played in continental competition can you name?

This quiz covers the European Cup/Champions League, the UEFA Cup/Europa League and the old Fairs Cup, the Cup Winners' Cup, the new Conference League and the Intertoto Cup, but not competitions such as the Anglo-Italian Cup, so Port Vale won't be a valid answer... Welsh clubs that play in the English leagues are not included. One of the answers is a team that no longer exists, at least not in its previous form.

There are nine minutes to try and get as many answers as possible. Do let me know if you think this time limit is fair.

Again, thanks very much for taking the time to have a look.

Also, this is a similar quiz which I would have shared here before on English teams that have reached a European final: https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/1696326/english-football-clubs-that-have-pl Norwich didn't participate in this quiz.

Brett McGavin with a goal for them tonight in a massive win away to Taunton Town that seems to mean they are safe from relegation in the Conference South after their points deduction.

They were a penalty shoot-out away from promotion back to the Football League in 2021 so hopefully they will be able to push on now under new ownership.

Also in that division, Truro City (playing their home games in Gloucester) got a 1–0 win over Dover Athletic tonight, their fourth match in the past week — over the past three-and-a-half weeks, they've played on the 23rd, 26th and 29th of March, the 1st, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th, and 13th of April and then again this evening (16th), and they play again on Thursday (18th) and finally on Saturday (20th). I wonder what Klopp and Guardiola would make of that?...

English football derbies quiz(zes) ⚽
at 16:42 12 Apr 2024

I have made a couple more football quizzes if anybody would like to have a go.

The names of 10 different derbies in English football (e.g. Second City derby) are given and it's just a case of guessing the two teams that compete in each fixture. There are two quizzes in this format, so 20 derbies and 40 clubs to try and guess in total. Each quiz has a five-minute time limit, but do let me know if you think this isn't enough.

#2: https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/1696326/english-football-derbies-2

Also, below is a similar quiz in a multiple-choice format that I made a while back:

Thanks again for taking the time to have a look.

I have updated a football quiz I originally posted a while ago if anybody would like to have a go.

Following the, er, Bristol Street Motors Trophy final, I've amended a quiz I made on all previous winners of the competition so that it is up to date and so that it now asks for you to also guess the runners-up instead of just having them listed next to where the winners are entered. This means there are now 17 more teams to try and guess (48 finalists in total since 1984). There's a mix of clubs among the answers, from those that have played in the Premier League to those that are now in non-League.

There are 14 minutes to try and get as many answers as you can, though I'm sure that will be more than enough for some. Do let me know what you think of the time limit.

Thanks for having a look. Hopefully we won't be involved in the competition again.

Today was pretty awful and I certainly don’t feel good about it
at 15:18 6 Apr 2024

But I’d say I felt worse after the Cardiff game last month. And the 4–4 at Charlton. And the derby game at Portman Road in December — that was such a missed opportunity.

The worst thing is the fact that today’s result has increased the likelihood of us meeting them in the play-offs. I do not want that.

I think the Supporters Club may want to consider re-opening the voting for it...

What an incredible win. This season, and this team, are something else.

Next season’s kits
at 11:41 1 Apr 2024

Not the most important thing right now but what do we think the club has gone for?

We’ve had last season’s home shirt that was a little bit of a hark back to 91/92 with that red on the collar and then this season’s is inspired by the Wembley 2000 shirt and features more white on the sleeves than in 22/23.

In terms of away/third kits, we’ve had white-and-black, orange and red-and-black, all of which we’ve worn before, as well as the black-out one.

It’ll be interesting to see if we get a colour/combination we’ve not had previously or perhaps if we’ll get a yellow-and-blue kit...

Not a good night for Hartlepool Utd

They took the lead away from home but ended up losing 7–1. We’d never do something like that.

Gateshead seem to be doing pretty well. Looking at the National League play-offs, there’s a fair chance that there could be a new club in the Football League next season.

Scored today for Zimbabwe in their match against Zambia. His fourth cap and his second Zimbabwe goal, almost ten years after he scored on his international début.

6–0 stats
at 18:11 17 Mar 2024

Fifty per cent of Cameron Burgess’ goals for Ipswich Town have come in 6–0 wins — one against Northampton in the Papa Johns Trophy last season and then another yesterday. Admittedly, that is only two goals out of a possible four, but still. He clearly loves a thumping win.

Also, two of George Edmundson’s five ITFC goals have been in 6–0 victories, with his first for the club coming under Paul Cook when we hammered Doncaster and then another coming in that win over Northampton.

After scoring six at Portman Road on only one occasion — the 6–0 against Bristol City in November 2007, with Jon Walters scoring a hat-trick — between March 2005 and September 2021, we have now recorded five 6–0 home wins in less than two-and-a-half years.

Yesterday’s result was the largest winning margin in the Championship this season.
