Stumbled across a 20 minute video on YouTube which should a 90 second clip of the Champ playoff finals over the last few decades until about Covid.
With our championship tenure it was fairly incredible we never made that game. It looks like we’d have played Preston if we won against WHU. I guess at Cardiff.
I must have zoned out of football a bit doing some of those seasons but a few things to note. These clubs seems to be involved a lot. A few of them have never looked back, a few have had some dark times or fallen drastically.

Leeds 3
Derby, at least 2? (administration on amongst it)
Reading (close to going bust)
Hull 3 now
Villa and Fulham a couple each
Brentford, been up since
Palace, been up since I think
Some players with town connections involved in big moments. Chopra & Jack Marriott, Mings.
Crazy how much of a stale club we were for 2 decades really in terms of excitement and not having a chance at “the new” Wembley. [Post edited 24 May 17:26]

Interesting to note Hull have had FIVE Prem seasons in last 20 years (compared to our one) AND had an FA Cup final appearance.

A reasonable chunk of those clubs have been in major cup finals too. Villa, Palace, Hull, Watford, West Ham, Fulham europa league. As I said at the time, arguably the most boring club to support has been ITFC since say 2005 up to 2020 odd. |  | | |
