But after spending over a hundred million in the Premiership one home win all season and twenty two points all season. Is McKenna the right man if he stays and we go down without ever competing will McKenna be damaged and struggle to get another Premiership job.

Clubs won't always look purely at results they will look at the overall situation and align results with the club owners approach rather than the manager ability. Enzo Maresca, is a perfect example, fans class his Chelsea tenure as failed. But Man City owners clearly don't if he is going to be their next manager. They probably looked at the situation and decided it was the Chelsea owners fault. Also what defines elite? Slot won the PL without spending any money, then nearly failed to qualify for Europe after spending £100m's. Is Slot elite, is Liverpool's recruiting team not fit for purpose, is Slot actually just at best a top championship level manager and got lucky one season.

You'd probably say 3 of them did a pretty decent job, the other 5 a poor one. In those 20 seasons we did not finish in the top two of any division once. We finished in the top 6 just three times. We substantially out-performed our wage budget maybe twice? Under-performed it more than half the time. Just can't see why you'd split hairs on how good McKenna is. Objective achieved in 3 of his 4 completed seasons. Top two in 3 of his 4 completed seasons. One season achieved at a level way above our wage budget, effectively setting us up as a higher status/higher income club. The sole blot is still probably us finishing one place higher than our wage bill would dictate. I have no interest in defining whether he's elite or not (he'll only prove that by succeeding somewhere else), he's an absolutely a great fit for our club and that's pretty rare and it's all that matters.

Someone mentioned Leeds - Farke got Norwich promoted and relegated twice and looked like he was going to do the same with Leeds before adapting, good managers learn and change and I believe McKenna is a good manager
