Problem is due to the decade of mismanagement of the Academy we have very little home grown players coming up, so we are always trying to build a new team each season.
Those players we bought and thrived, like Delap and Omari, were immediately targetted by 'bigger' clubs and were off, cant blame them, they have no lifelong allegiance to the club
When we buy players to develop, its not good enough for the vocal minority of fans and they are immediately on their backs, eg Egeli and to an extent early Philogene
We desperately need to survive a season in the Prem, obviously, which will then give us a chance to grow a side rather than have to reseed it from scratch each season. The likes of Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth have managed that and are now able to attract ready made quality players to fill holes. We need to get lucky one year and then maybe, just maybe, we can consolidate | |

Why isn’t Scowie working for us ? He would be ideal and Im sure would jump at the chance. Knows more than Ashton about the scouting and transfer market in general. I’d have thought we would have tried to get him by now. |  | | |
