What a summer! 15:58 - Aug 21 with 248 viewsblue_curacao

It's been one of the most rollercoaster off-seasons I can remember.

The joy of promotion slowly replaced by the anxiety of "have we learnt enough to be competitive this time?"
Some early transfer speculation which was good in the sense we were clearly looking to get our business done early but then... despair as KM departs.
It felt like the saga of who our new manager would be went on for ages although it was actually all conducted reasonably swiftly. At this point it started to dawn on me that we are now a very attractive option for managers - one of the top 30 club jobs in world football.
Then GON was appointed, I could see the merit but like many I had a feeling of being slightly underwhelmed. But, as the summer went on and pre-season got underway I started to warm to GON and then as our transfer business progressed, I slowly became more and more optimistic - the two Dutch goalies, Diop, Lukic, Florentino, Fatawu, Emersonn and then the pair from Strasbourg. All of these softened the blows of losing the likes of Chappers, Burns and Hirst. And who knows who else is to come? Crazy times!

With so much change, I find myself at the end of the summer feeling like the KM era was in the distant past. I'm now fully onboard with GON and this feels very much like his squad. And I'm excited, like really excited! Can't wait for 3pm tomorrow and can't wait to see this group of players develop over the season. I know that however it goes, this group are going to give it everything and we are going to have plenty of highs along the way.
