Interested to see him yesterday and really expected him to boss midfield. I actually thought he was a yard slower than what I remember from last season and defensively suspect. His short passing was fine but he didn't really influence the game (apart from getting fouled for the goal).

Only one game so possibly to early to tell but if he's not firing Sunderland are maybe going to struggle a bit. Their possession stats were decent but they hardly created a proper chance from them.

Lukic looked far the better midfielder and Nunez outshone him too.

I think we did a very specific job on him and it worked very well. There was a point in the second half where Enciso pulled him right out of position and looked like he was taking the piss out of him a little bit, but i think he was just making sure he was way out of position so we could break through them. The encouraging thing is Lukic looked at least equal to Xhaka who was crucial to Sunderlands success last season.

You can tell he's an exceptional footballer. Very calm and composed on the ball. Lukic was exactly that for us yesterday.
