I think it is Matusiwa who is going to be the One on the periphery of things now.

I think GO'N gives them all an opportunity once they're fully fit and up to speed. That's why it's important to use the cup competitions to give longer run-outs for players like Matu, Luis and possibly Taylor (unless he gets sold). Over the course of the season, we will need 5 central midfielders.

Poll: would you rather

No, PL seasons are hard on players, we will see changes in personal at different games. Midfield especially is key to how GON teams operate. We will go defensive midfield in some games and a more attacking midfield in others.

5 quality midfielders are definitely needed for the season. Injuries & suspensions will happen & we will be playing with a lot of intensity through the middle & onto the attackers with our press; KMcK used to change his front 4 in every game, and I suspect GO'N will need to change a midfielder around the 65 minute mark too.
We are also likely to play with 3 in the middle for some games (Arsenal away!) so Matusiwa, Nunez & Luis will certainly get their fair share of minutes, even if Palacios & Lukic stay injury free all season.
Jack Taylor & Cam Humphreys will surely be sold/loaned out though.

Poll: If we go up, which new striker would you like us to sign?

In a 25-man squad, a club can afford two players for each position, plus an extra three for key areas (there's a bit of leeway with utility players, covering more than one role and U21s, who don't count against the total).

One would expect two of those to be a third goalie and a third centre forward. For us this season, central midfield is crucial - that is where a lot of the transfer emphasis has been - so it would be logical to have an extra man (or two*) there as well.

* Maybe Taylor, added to Palacios, Matusiwa, Luis, Nunez and Lukic.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
