An article in today's Guardian alerted me to the fact that the club has a sponsorship deal with the unlicensed overseas betting company, 8xBet.

It is listed on the club's website as one of its global partners.

The question for me is why on earth do we have anything to do with a betting company, let alone an unlicensed one?

Are we really that desperate for money? And where is the due diligence?

There was also a presentation on the pitch about the Samaritans and something about how the Premier League apparently looks after fans. It did make me wonder how much of the Samaritans' work is caused by gambling addiction. [Post edited 11 Sep 7:46]

Could say that about dozens of things though.

Gambling on here has always been an easy target because plenty of you don’t do it. Whereas talking about which pub is best and types of cider etc is all absolute fine because drinking is mor common that gambling.
