What have we done to football?! 18:22 - Sep 13 with 2315 viewsjasondozzell

Remember how it used to be before all this?

Now watching a game on TV involves repeated recitations of the rules, lengthy VAR checks, commentators talking more excitedly about 'whether there was contact' than actual play, refs with cameras on their head, endless sideways passing as teams try to wear the other down, impressive physicality but without football ability, endless conversations about refs and decisions in place of actual play, quiet crowds muttering.

Not living the lifestyle he did he wouldn’t.

Which was my point. I wouldn’t be surprised if most professional footballers know of someone who was far better than them but simply didn’t have the dedication or discipline to become a professional footballer.

Didn’t Kieron Dyer tell of a player who played with him in the youth team but simply didn’t have the dedication and ended up working in a factory in the North-East.

Best had plenty of both when a young player.

Look at what Sammy McIlroy says about him as a trainer.

You don't win the European cup if you're not both dedicated or disciplined.
