I'm currently reading "Who Owns Football" by Nick Miller. Published a couple of years ago, it's already a bit out of date, but still quite interesting. In the introduction, it mentions Bury winning at Maine Road in 1998, and City getting relegated to the third tier. Long before the takeover. The following season, they swapped divisions, Bury being relegated due to an experiment with goals scored being a higher determinant than goal difference, and City winning the play off on penalties following an injury time equaliser. Diverging paths from that moment on, but it could have all been so different. | |
