The rule change had somehow eluded my attention with the turbulence of promotion. Being promoted in 8th is insane. The biggest point difference in the last twenty years between 8th and 3rd is 24 points. That’s 8 defeats turned into wins. That’s mental.

Don’t get me wrong, I get it. It makes more mid table pointless games into nailbiters at the end of the season. But it is absolutely unjust.

I ask this knowing the answer. Are we turning into American leagues where an appreciable proportion of the teams qualify for a cup competition? If so, what’s the point of doing well during the season?

Being a successful as a league team is wildly different to a successful cup run. They should not be rewarded in the same way.

Yes I know I’m old but fack it, this is an obviously awful change. So if you disagree with me you can suck my sack.
