I know that he was captain tonight but there were a few times when a mistake happened in front of him and he had to be ready for it. He never had a go at the young players and just did his job.

I was very impressed with him and how he was with the young players. When you barely get a look in it can't be easy playing with kids, but he was very patient and respectful. When needed he did very well.

If these are the type of characters, that Mick says, we have in our squad then it is very positive.

I've not been a fan of Gerkens at all, but he was a model professional tonight, makes some cracking stops and did a fine job as captain. I couldn't agree more. If he retires here maybe this is a precursor to him becoming a coach.
