If the number 265 is correct in this instance 08:32 - Feb 1 with 616 views | homer_123 | it begs the question how the hell did that happen without someone, somewhere noticing? I've no idea if any of the abused said anything earlier (often this can be the case) and they weren't taken seriously? However, it's quite astonishing and depressing to think this could happen to so many without him being caught. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-42894833

If the number 265 is correct in this instance on 08:37 - Feb 1 with 596 views | Steve_M | I read that there was one case where an abused girl reported him and he talked her parents, who were friends, into believing she was attention seeking. It's evidence as to why it is only publicity that makes many of the abused women and girls realise they aren't alone. Which also says something about the manipulative nature of abusers. And to return to your original question, sport is very good at ignoring a lot of things where individuals are successful at the sport.

If the number 265 is correct in this instance on 10:01 - Feb 1 with 515 views | Guthrum | Man in respected, official position is believed over a bunch of young girls (who are only able to speak up at the risk of ruining of their careers). Parents probably don't want to believe it's happening and in some cases any concerns will no doubt have been overidden by ambition on their child's behalf. Only when the door is prized open can the cases begin to flood through.
