Hardly anyone plays 2 up top these days because you have to sacrifice an extra body in midfield.
The issue is that we're still too direct. We don't hold on to the ball for long enough and build up attacks with any patience to enable enough players from midfield to move in to advanced positions. You'd still have the same issue with another striker on the pitch IMO.
