Cases like these are part of the tragedy of Trump's debasement of American life. At one point US influence allowed them to speak out ion defence of press freedoms, now Trump loves all the angry little strongmen.

(And yes, the US support for Marcos was blind and fr too uncritical but this is at a different level now).

I think that dodgy relationship with the US and press freedom can be neatly applied to Assange. And a complicit UK government and establishment.

Gets almost zero coverage in the UK too.
