Jeez, you'd have thought the Met would at *some* point ask a police surgeon to examine him wouldn't you. Ditto at least look at his computer & phone. Many peoples' lives needlessly wrecked, and the cause of genuine survivors set back.

The senior police officer who publicly described Beech's claims against Harvey Proctor as "credible & true" had no business being a senior officer. I hope he or she was disciplined or demoted; probably now enjoying early retirement on a full pension. This does show why police routinely give bland, factual statements about people accused of serious crimes.

Did s/he ever apologise? As well as the high-profile victims, there was his mother and his ex-wife, who learned only after 18 years of marriage and raising their son that Beech was actually a paedophile himself.
