It's the first time since July 2020 and even though there is often a delay in reporting so the numbers are greater later in the week it's still a huge milestone and it's started to really feel like as a country we are on top of things.
We still need to remember there are areas of the world where things are going so well and they will need our help going forward.

That doesn't state what the absolute number of cases that is a percentage of and I presume that is still fairly low.
Indeed, we need to watch all variants but in the specific case of the Indian variant it looks like the existing vaccines have a good level of baseline protection.
It will be a constant battle with the variants until enough of the world is vaccinated so that these variants have less scope to evolve.
