I’m confused and hoping someone understands this better.
The squad size limit was brought in alongside the salary cap. Now the salary cap has been scrapped the financial fair play rules are returning to a turnover-based regulation, but is the squad size limit staying in place as was originally outlined when the salary cap was introduced? I thought the salary cap was overturned as it undermined the players’ employment rights, and I’d imagine the same charge could be put against a limit on the number of overage playing staff a club are allowed.
I guess I’m asking whether the salary cap and squad size limit were repealed together or were treated as two separate rules, because I’d assumed that the squad size rules were done away with too but I see a lot of people mentioning them with regards to building our squad for next season. |  |

The squad size limit is still there, but the PFA are considering a challenge. I'm not sure if includes cup competitions (particularly those not run by the EFL).

Presumably to reduce expenditure to level the playing-field. You can't dominate the division by simply buying a huge squad (like we did last season ...). | |
