Everything you need to know about Benjamin Siegrist 10:13 - Jun 20 with 1244 viewsTomTheWriter

For the fourth time this month, Siegrist has been linked with a move to Ipswich.

Historically, the more we get linked with a player, the more believable it becomes. Evans was linked every week since Cook took over.

Below is the article on Siegrist I published last month, when we were first interested. Includes goalkeeping style, time with Dundee Utd, reinventing himself and Scottish Premiership experience.

Thanks for posting. I’m always slightly baffled by concentration on a keeper being a ‘shot stopper’ as that’s the bare minimum requirement. As you point out in the article, we lack command of the area and proficiency at set pieces which are what set good keepers apart from great ones. I don’t think we’ve actually had a GK with those attributes for many years.

It appears it would be a coup if we can land this guy but the competition looks stiff.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
Poll: Which recent triallist should we have signed?

Understand that completely. The key expectancy for any keeper is there ability to stop the ball from getting in the net. Sometimes, however, that isn't most keepers' strong suit. You'd argue that Ederson's key strength is his ability on the ball.

When it comes to Siegrist, he is very similar to Holy, with both keepers' excelling at close-range saves. Big difference, is Siegrist's command of area like you said. Holy always seemed to struggle with that, whilst Cornell looked poor from long-range strikes. Haven't seen a consistent problem with Siegrist so far from his time at Dundee Utd

Thank you,

Looks as though Celtic are turning their attention to Matthew Ryan, which makes a lot of sense considering the new manager at Celtic is Australian.

Siegrist was arguably the third best goalkeeper in the Scottish Premiership last season. Very comparable between Siegrist's run last season, and Bialkowski's season where he attracted interest from Crystal Palace.

Think the battle right now will be between Siegrist and MacGillivray, as you say the GK coach will have a big say.

You are right about Vaduz, I should have put 'Swiss League' side rather than 'Swiss' side. Thank you for correcting me on that
