Oi Dubbers...bin info. 19:19 - Sep 7 with 670 views | BanksterDebtSlave | What's all this about no peelings or other kitchen bits in the green bins. They say to put it in the household bin and it will go to the new super dooper climate emergency response composter to make electrickery. Are they really going to separate it from the other crap in my black bin liner?

Oi Dubbers...bin info. on 19:31 - Sep 7 with 635 views | Bluedicea | Of course they won't. They are looking for a solution to the food waste in the meantime....... https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/news/local-council/east-suffolk-household-waste-gr EDIT: It's like all those bins we have throughout Ipswich, with a recycling half and non recycling half. Speak to the binmen that empty them, they all go into the back of the same truck, no sorting, no recycling, just burnt or dumped. People think they're doing good by using these bins, but you'd have more effect on the environment if you put it in recycling at home. (Pet peeve rant at IBC) [Post edited 7 Sep 2021 19:36]

That link suggests raw peelings would still be ok yet I have heard of bins left unemptied because of banana skins. As it happens we compost ours anyway but wondered if it was true. [Post edited 7 Sep 2021 20:57]

Yes I meant the public street bins. My apologies I wasn't clear enough. The reasons those dual bins are just a con. The council said they couldn't afford to have two different truck runs for each type of waste, as it would mean employing more staff and getting a second set of trucks. The existing trucks cannot be adapted to have different compartments and they don't have the staff or facilities to sort the rubbish that is placed in the wrong bin. But hey ho, having hundreds of recycling bins in the town looks good for their image.
