1) Brings his backroom staff with him if they’ve had success together before
2) works with the squad he has for a year and concentrates on improving them as individuals and a team rather than rubbishing them , getting rid and bringing in yet another new squad
3) doesn’t suck up to the supporters to win favour and instead just does their job. We know we’ve got a great fanbase, great history etc we don’t need an outsider to tell us. In fact it would be refreshing to hear a manager talk along the same lines as Butcher last night - we’re a mid table third division club in decline and they’re here to reverse the slide.
4) Gets the team to fit and motivates them so that as a minimum whether we win, lose or draw we never feel they are coasting or being out -worked by the opposition
I’ll be happy and they’ll have my backing for the rest of this season and all of next even if we go down this season (we won’t) and struggle next.
We need stability but that starts with making the right appointment as manager. It was clear very quickly with the last three that the foundations weren’t right and even if they’d had 5 years here there would be no or little improvement.
