Match thoughts… overall happy with that 17:58 - Feb 12 with 752 viewsunstableblue

I thought it was a game of good quality; with two well coached and decent teams.

It was like a game of technical football chess with shape and systems being tweaked through the game.

Both teams kind of cancelled each other out; with little real penetration.

A great example of how well both teams were cancelling each other was when Bakinson made an error in the middle and it led to immediate danger with 3 on two, that we managed to snub out.

But ignoring the first 10mins and the last 5mins, Ipswich edge it for me.

We just needed a bit more adventure and to break the lines more effectively. When the excellent Morsy broke the line we caused real issues, similarly Celina.

I think we needed Chaplin, Celina and Burns to be beating people today to win it. And unfortunately Burns wasn’t fully firing and his linking with Donacien weak.

But I thought our back 3 were excellent, and Walton.

The real disappointment was Bonne and Norwood as subs; they messed up 3 passages of real threat and that’s just not good enough. I thought Jackson did OK, with the limited service behind the centre backs. You could see why McKenna picked him.

I’ll take the draw, especially given some moments where we relied on Walton excellence to avoid going behind.

5 points off is great (albeit teams with games in hands).

3 wins on the bounce is really possible and needed, IF we can find the threat we are missing a little at the moment.
