Hidden away on 5 select (FV 56) 'Forged In Fire' at 22.00 last week, & continuing this week.
Basically, 4 'Bladesmiths' (blacksmiths specialising in bladed weapons) from across the USA compete for $10K prize money each evening, by producing (often recycling from some discarded lump of metal) 2 new knives, swords, axes etc each (the second of which is a recreation of a historical item, such as a cutlass), judged by a panel of 3 experts who test the weapons by chopping blocks of ice, slashing ropes etc. & then applying the 'kill test" to dummies with bags of ink in place of vital organs!
Real treat to watch these craftspeople at work - combination of fantastic artwork, technology & brute strength. Only started watching while channel-hopping, as found nothing else worth watching at prime time weekdays on the main channels in the 2 weeks before Easter. [Post edited 18 Apr 2022 15:41]
