Slightly provocative last line there, claiming that Wiredu played his 65th L2 game 'in his last game for the U's'. Yesterday, Wiredu tweeted a montage of U's clips and the comment 'until further notice' which many (including Frank Noublé) clearly took to mean he's staying a while longer. I suspect ideally Colchester would like to keep him a few more months so that he can improve in front of goal (and there's PLENTY of room for improvement there, because he's like a rabbit in the headlights when he sees goal). If he can do that then he'll be worth a lot, because 's he's fantastic at breaking up play. I would say he should have got at least eight league goals this season. A 'reel' of his misses from a yard or two out would be substantial and almost comical. If he'd put them in it would have been a much less tense and tetchy season for the U's, and Sears would have had as many assists as goals. | |
