Today’s goes back nearly 100 years. From 1925-1930, Sidney Norman Webster played 69 times for Ipswich Town mostly at left back.
Webster was also a Flight-Lieutenant in the RAF based at Martlesham and flew the winning aircraft in the 1927 Schneider Trophy race in Venice. His Supermarine S5, designed by RJ Michell of Spitfire fame, averaged 281.66 mph.
