First, to address the obvious answer: yes, we should be finishing better, finishing off games, and making sure that teams like Cheltenham etc., can't rely on timewasting to protect their precious precious point.
It was also good to see the referee book their 'keeper in the first half, even if he didn't take any further action.
There definitely needs to be an out-of-the-box solution, though, otherwise players can just go down 'injured' with gay abandon, much like their number three.
How about a 'team booking' for the first instance of time-wasting? The booking only applies to timewasting, but any offenders from that point onwards receive a second yellow card and are sent off?
Or, re: injuries - if a player goes down and requires treatment a second time, they are required to be substituted. With the increased focus on player safety, it's just good sense to prevent a clearly-injured player from continuing to play. |  |
