Match thoughts… some positive amongst the negatives 22:17 - Nov 22 with 852 views | unstableblue | First I really get annoyed by the Cowleys, they are just in the ref and assistant refs faces all game, and were clearly encouraging time wasting. Town started really well, with Leigh and KVY standing out. A real positive Leigh is back. Going to add a lot of energy and physical presence when Davis tires. But we didn’t really carve any clear chances, and as Pompey sat deep the attacking ideas were lacking again. We need to hit the byline more, shoot more and make more runs into the box. The Harness knock looked serious, he was unable to put weight on his leg, I think knee, and was effectively helped to the dressing room.. Then more negatives in some seriously keystone cop defending, which as a team we always seem to have waiting in the wings. Burgess improved when came on, before he became the phantom striker again. Siziba unfortunately was a rabbit in the headlights; and was overall poor. He did improve, but was a classic of ‘you may be good at academy level, but it’s a big step up’. BUT, one real positive was the cameo of another academy product - Albie Armin - yes it was the latter stages, but he did look like someone who can step up. Speaking of youth, the biggest positive tonight was Humphreys - just wow. He is beginning to look another level, teaming with Morsy well, and beginning to break up play as well as just being bloody brilliant on the ball. He’s also getting more vocal - balling out Jackson for just being cr@p at movement. The BIG negative tonight was Camara, he rallied briefly in the second half, but that was a performance to file in the ‘Aluko debut drawer’. Were his studs too short?! But perhaps the main positive is we bow out of the pizza cup at the right stage, and focus on the FA Cup and critically the league. As Plymouth keep going. A cup where we are tiring our brilliant Captain is no good. He was good again. Finally - we need to go and get a striker of the quality of Scarlett. Now to Buxton.

Match thoughts… some positive amongst the negatives on 22:29 - Nov 22 with 743 views | backwaywhen | Good assessment of game a your points are valid , as for Cowley’s and their tactics , can anyone explain how a goalkeeper gets cramp ? , certainly tend to overplay the ball on edge of their box and should take more chances shooting from distance , now let’s crack on and get promoted , leaving the Cowley’s to fester in league 1 for as long as possible…. cOYBs
Match thoughts… some positive amongst the negatives on 22:31 - Nov 22 with 736 views | X0Y0 | Agree with most of that, though worth noting that a fair few Pompey fans had been questioning the performance of Scarlett recently. They were happy for him to be dropped out of the first team. Edit: I would add that we suffered from the ridiculous red card for Edwards in the previous fixture. Had he been available then he would have likely started in place of Harness, who instead would have been an option from the bench rather than Siziba (and avoided his injury!). We weren't very effective at all in the final third but Edwards could easily have changed that. [Post edited 22 Nov 2022 22:36]
