Hello,
Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere and I missed it, but there is a nice link between Town and Buxton.
Johnny Cobbold was the grandson of the ninth Duke of Devonshire. The current Duke is the patron of Buxton FC. The Cavdendish familiy are to Buxton what the Cobbolds are to Ipswich, built half of it and ran most of it.
Anyway, I am from Ipswich work in Buxton. The folk are friendly and really looking forward to this afternoon. Hopefuly they will get a warm Suffolk welcome and a pint or two of Adnams - even if Tolly Cobbold would have been more appropiate. |  | | |  |

Further link is that my mum was evacuated to Buxton and spent most of her childhood there and in Chapel-on-le-Frith, where she lived in a pub called the Jolly Carter for a while. My uncle, Sgt Peter Hockley, is remembered on the war memorial there. |  | | |

I've got a personal link, my mum was born in Buxton & I was born in Ipswich. A far as I know however, neither of us have been to Buxton since she left as a little girl. |  |
