Club Memorial Day Fixture 10:24 - Dec 9 with 649 viewsCityBlue

Why oh why have the club firstly reduced the seating for the FA cup third round fixture and then nominated it as the Memorial Game. Surely we want that to be on a game where there will be a big crowd - such as Plymouth Argyle at home later in the month?

I think that's a very good point. Last year's memorial match included two people I knew, and it was particularly moving to have a normal match crowd there.

It seems to be tied to the first home game of the new year, but as we haven't been in the 3rd round since it started, the issue of the size of crowd hasn't really been an issue.

Incidentally, last year's game was moved to later, so perhaps the same could happen this time.

Perhaps this is something Phil could take up with the club, as I think it would be better to tie it to the first home league game of the season.

I used to attend the cup games but over the past several years have been weaned off the drug by our indifference to anything remotely silverware. But now this time I intend to attend; but now realise I have to select a seat I might not usually sit in. If many others follow suit we'll have a sell out - albeit may be only 14K. With the lower tiers full it is still a memorial game I guess. But the club do seem a bit bewildered here.
They should re-think this on two levels a) open the whole ground or b) move the memorial game day.
