Who ate all the pies? 18:53 - Feb 4 with 1156 views | Mark | The beamback at Portman Road was a good idea, and I am grateful they did it not for profit. The queues at the bars were so long however that I, and many people, could not get anywhere near the front despite queueing for nearly half an hour before kick off and all half time. Bars were closed at full time so we didn't get our pie and pints. The loud announcement "we hope you had a fantastic time!" was rather ill-judged given the result. I hope they do a beamback again, just needs to be organised a bit better.
Who ate all the pies? on 19:18 - Feb 4 with 1016 views | TexacoCup | Yes glad they did it - we arrived about 2.15 and queues were short, obvious really that 2,600 people all getting a pie and drink at the same time = very long queues! The picture was okay but only just, we were sitting halfway back, towards the east stand. not sure how good it was from the front. Commentary was okay, sound average - couldn't really work out the atmosphere at Cambridge, it was sort of strange in the SAR but then the game was no great shakes. They had the bars open before closing at 4.30 - this meant people constantly blocking our view as they trundled in and out! So, well done to the club, good experiment, great value but next time I'll listen on Radio Suffolk.

I could see pretty well from my seat, but those towards the corners must have struggled to see much on the screens. I thought Mick Stockwell did well on the commentary, but the the commentator was overly positive as usual and kept talking about how good Ipswich's attack is. I prefer a balanced view where commentators can criticise as well as praise, which is difficult when they are employed by the club. At least BBC Radio Suffolk are free to say certain players are having a poor match.
