Found this out yesterday. Amongst their repertoire of songs and calls, Great Tit have an arial threat alarm call, a short whistle. Lots of other birds recognise this call and will dash for cover when they hear it. When there is a lot of activity at bird feeding stations and it is hard to get a look in, some smart Great Tits give the alarm call, scattering all the other birds and leaving the food for themselves. Greedy fecking psychopaths. I wonder if the other birds will ever catch on. |  |
