Scottish by-election 09:24 - Aug 6 with 510 viewsDJR

Despite the SNP shooting itself in the foot, it will be interesting to see if the Labour strategy of appealing to the Red Wall will play out so well in the upcoming Scottish by-election.

It is also interesting to note that the Labour candidate and, I believe, Scottish Labour oppose the backtracking by Labour nationally on trans right and the two child benefit limit. But this in turn has lead to claims of Scottish Labour being merely a "branch office".

It's perhaps early days to judge him, and as I don't live in Scotland I haven't seen much of him, but with the obvious exceptions of Douglas Ross and Richard Leonard, I tend to think that in the main most leaders in Scotland come across much better than most of those in England. For Labour, I would include Anar Sarwar, Kezia Dugdale and Jim Murphy in this, and for the Tories Ruth Davidson.

Maybe the lack of an Oxbridge education helps because it gives them some grounding.
