As with VAR it is not the technology that is the problem, it is the human error in the use of (or even deliberate misuse) of the technology. Reading on in the BBC article I see that the facial recognition compares images to a 'watch list' - now who draws up this 'watch list' and why. If we get to the point where one person's 'criminal' is another person's 'freedom fighter' then the rule of law starts to break down. And people get fearful about holding a passport so the increase in fake documents becomes significant. |  |
