Biden's phrase 'the other team' 16:29 - Oct 18 with 810 views | WeWereZombies | I don't want to extend the life of the other thread where this is being discussed, what with its clumsy title and yet again entrenched positions that add little to our understanding. But I did want to respond to Mach_foreignblue's observation about Biden's, in my view, strange and misguided decision to refer to, presumably, the Palestinians as 'the other team'. I watched the BBC clip where this is supposed to have happened but a combination of my damaged hearing and his mumbling delivery rendered his speech indistinct. So I have to take it on trust. Biden looked and sounded tired, living up to the nickname the Republicans have given him. As Facters suggested on the 'Why are America pro-Israel ?' thread you have to be concerned that Netanyahu has him worn down and diplomacy is going to be carried out by others now. Edit: updated to attribute Facters contribution to the correct thread and to put Mach's username right. [Post edited 18 Oct 2023 16:35]

Biden's phrase 'the other team' on 22:30 - Oct 18 with 645 views | JakeITFC | I thought this was an important bit of statesmanship and despite the United States' clear support of Israel, this is an important bit of nuance that is hopefully received by both sides (and as a slight aside, good to hear a US president accepting of the mistakes made post 9/11, hopefully they continue down that path of enlightenment): | | | |
