What we learnt tonight 22:51 - Nov 7 with 492 viewsnodge_blue

We were sloppy in possession alot. Freddie’s layoff as someone else said was poor. Chappers had some chances you’d expect him to normally at least get on target. Some of our give and gos first half were to no one.

But as the game went on we looked more and more the better side. If that’s Rotherham’s strongest squad in 20 years then god help them. They were turgid and old fashioned set piece reliant team. I’m frustrated that if we had shown a touch more quality earlier we could have taken them apart.

Referee was dreadful. Two clear penalties. He bottled the Hirst one, looking at his Lino when he had the clear view. I watched the Spurs game and I’m starting to think we should bin VAR when it took about 10 minutes to make decisions and stopped play in its track. So I can’t have my cake and eat it, but honestly that ref has got to be better on those decisions.

Tuanzebe did well. He looks a good player. Good height and pace. I’m not sure woolfie wouldn’t have been as good however. I think centre backs need to play regularly. Less a rotational position and certainly a partnership. So it will be interesting to see what happens there.

Jackson. I’m sorry but all he has is pace. Cue downvotes. But Hutchinson has pace and skill. Maybe it’s just we can’t overplay him and I get that. But my heart sinks when Kayden starts. He’s ok a a sub to chase and use his pace but I didn’t see enough from him at Bristol and again tonight.

Luongo. He’s looks a bit off his heights as well. I’d like to see Taylor get a start. His cameo tonight was good I thought. He looks to drive it forward.

Williams back for Clarke on Saturday. I like Harry but he’s not at the same level.

Overall I’m happy we are where we are. Amazed. And let’s enjoy that. I can’t see us dropping off big time. We need to cut out the goals against column a bit but then maybe we wouldn’t be scoring as many. So we live by the sword etc.
