The events of the last fortnight or so have really piqued my interest in how these sorts of things work. Can anyone point me towards any good books which shed some light on the inner machinations of contract negotiations?
Similarly, is there anything out there that digs a little bit into how client/agent relationships work? It’s always puzzled me the amount of sway that agents seem to have in player/manager negotiations, from suggestions that a lot of the unpleasantness of the last fortnight has been very much agent led, to the circumstances that seemingly led to Lukaku’s agent seeming to overrule RL’s preferences during his move to Chelsea/Man Utd a few summers back. |  |
