The Grieves interview is a good read (thanks Phil/Gav) and has interesting points about the club, the mentality of player McK is after, and the general mood of the place. Even the players who were with us two years ago are on good money compared to most of us, but some of these new signings will be on the big "silly" money. So it's nice to see that McK is really after players with the right characteristics, "humble" as Grieves said. His quote was quite telling I thought: "I’ve spoken to the Kieran several times and those conversations have made me very excited for the future here. We spoke about tactics, playing style and life off the pitch and every time we’ve spoken it’s been spot on." That is exactly the kind of player we want. Good on the pitch, but also aligned off it. I get kind of frustrated at all the TWTD comments on here re players like Philogene implying that if they don't love the club like we do we don't want them - it's their job, we are fans, it's a different relationship and to expect the same is odd. But it's the kind of relationship McKenna asks about and Grieves aligns with that is important and will help us survive or better. | |
