New podcast… 07:49 - Jul 8 with 1067 viewsdocklandsblue

For anyone who needs a new podcast to listen to whilst hitting F5 and doomscrolling Twitter for transfer updates, I know there were some fans of The Rise and Fall of Britpop here… series two has just landed and this time it’s some of the most insane stories of wibbling rivalry. On BBC Sounds: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/series/p0hpzvw1?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-
Or wherever you get your podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-rise-and-fall-of/id1755727621

Didn’t manage to sneak any Town refs in this time sadly, but there is some gold in there

Enjoyed the first series, so I'll check this one out too.
Cheers for sharing.

Just bumping this.
Throughly enjoyed this series.
It's by no means a puff piece and the main protagonists are not always fondly remembered.
I hadn't realised how badly those on the periphery were treated by the paps and particulary phone hackers. The mother of Liam's child particularly stood out.
It's fascinating story and well worth a listen even if you only have a passing interest.
I think their legacy leaves them a little like marmite. I was straight on them around 94 and stuck with them even though some of their later work could sometimes be a little ploddy and uninspring, but even their last LP has several high points.
I saw them a few times and they were generally a great live act, though ironically their revered Knebworth gigs were my least favourite. I thought the sound was terrible the day I went.

Thanks, the phone hacking and also how young they were / the lack of care and attention for them as things went (sorry) supersonic, was what really caught me out during the research & writing phase of the pod…its done really well so now working on ideas for series 3 🫠
Also rolling out series 1, 78 goal and all to Spotify/Apple etc soon.
