A bad day at the office - but reasons to be positive
Having listened to it, it is a balanced listen, as is always the case with the EADT when things go against us.
But perhaps the best part of it is these words from Mark Heath.
"If you are one of the people sending abuse to players on social media, give your head a bloody good wobble, look in the mirror, slap yourself, give yourself a good talking to, cause that is nonsense friends."
Yeah that clip is here for anyone who wants a listen.
Worth also watching for what Stu and Alex say on Johnson.
Indeed, the fact that the EADT have picked up on the excessive criticism indicates to me that the club (and maybe Johnson) will be aware too, not a nice set of affairs for a new player.

Fans are allowed to discuss poor performances , that comes with the territory of being a footballer.
Of course it is unacceptable to send anything to them directly or tag them.
But if, as you say the club might be aware, this is because they've gone looking for fan reviews they have to be prepared for what they might find.

I think there is a difference between criticism and personal abuse, and I am not convinced that it matters whether the abuse is direct, but maybe my views are just coloured by standing in front of someone on Saturday who from minute one was shouting abuse at our players whenever they made a mistake. Indeed, I don't think he said anything constructive all game.

I think the best kind of criticism is constructive rather than destructive. McKenna always tends to use a growth mindset language e.g - "We need to be stronger at X" or "We need to execute Y better" rather than "We were really weak at X" or "We were really poor at executing Y".
I think there's often a tendency on here and elsewhere in social media to just go for destructive criticism.

Those sorts of people boggle my brain. Even if the player could hear them they're not going to listen.
What I meant was. 1000 could voice their opinion online that Johnson was poor without it crossing any lines. If Johnson or the club see that they can't really be too upset that ticket paying fans have opinions. But i do completely condemn abuse disguised as opinion of course.

That's true. It is also the case that certain players get targeted (Jackson and Woolfy spring to mind) despite the fact that McKenna obviously sees something in them, or they wouldn't have been here.
