A sobering Sunday to say the least 09:01 - Jan 20 with 487 views | homer_123 | A pleasing opening 20 to 25 min spell, where both teams had good chances. We matched them reasonably well, though the signs of what were to come were there, even in that opening period. But two quick goals killed us and we simply didn't/ couldn't recover. Some observations. KDB is 'world class', whilst we can discuss Godfrey and how he coped yesterday, the reality is that he had little to no support. KDB's runs and positioning were so good that neither Morsy or Cajuste provided cover and Johnson was either covering the full back or out of position. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up - they schooled us, notably on that side of the pitch. Though it was pleasing to see that Davis has some space to bomb forward and we found him, shame we couldn't capitalise. As others have posted, Godfrey and Davis got forward well but seemed to either stop or cut in, which was a shame. The Johnson chance in the second half, right before they scored. I'll need to see the highlights but could he have found a Town player in a better position? City did that time and again from their left, they don't shoot from tight angles, they work the ball to a better position to increase their chances of scoring. Not a criticism of Johnson as we do normally look for pulling balls back (see Burns ones against Brighton). Having slept on it - we got royally turned over. That's it - they were better than us and I'm not convinced a different line up or approach would have changed it. Sometimes it is what it is. We did create in that opening spell though, so it's not all doom and gloom. Heads didn't drop and the crowd was excellent in their support. One of those games where you just have to accept it. And have to admire City - yep, they have the resources and players but it's still impressive to watch them go about their work. [Post edited 20 Jan 9:12]

A sobering Sunday to say the least on 10:29 - Jan 20 with 331 views | Radlett_blue | 100% this. After 25 minutes I felt we were acquitting ourselves quite well but once the first goal went in, our midfield & defence were overrun. That's largely because City have better players than us. Another tough game at Anfield on Saturday, but our eyes will be very much on the home game with Southampton which, while it won't be easy, is looking like a "must win" game, however much McKenna hates that phrase. With Godfrey here (he looked a bit rusty yesterday, which was understandable) & Tuanzebe back, McKenna must sort out what is our best defence & stick with it. Jack Clarke actually had a very good first half yesterday, combining well with Delap & Davis & people shouldn't focus on his stupid pass which gifted City a goal. Philogene also looked well up to it, after a first 10 minutes wheh he diodn;t seemt o touch the ball once. | |
