Theoretical question about promotion..... 18:41 - Aug 11 with 714 views | Bloots | .....to The Premier League. If it was "voluntary" would you take it? You still play all Championship matches as usual, you win the league, you get the trophy, you get a big old chunk of prize money, but you don't have to accept promotion. Would you vote to go up and deal with all that brings, or would you vote to stay in the Championship and do it all again? I'm not 100% certain what I'd do to be honest.

Theoretical question about promotion..... on 18:48 - Aug 11 with 633 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I doubt there are many if any who would have said turn down the chance of the Premier League just over a year ago. The real logic would be if by turning it down you got the full value financially of it and then had a second chance to consolidate in the Championship before having to take promotion if achieved again. Even then, though, I think I would say no, take promotion. Refusing promotion would have left us now without many of the players we have now, never having had Delap and unable to attract players with ambition of playing in the Premier League. The real issue is finding a way to become good enough to compete in the Premier League. Three years ago every one of the promoted clubs did that. The situation hasn't changed so much in those three years that it is now impossible to do. We need to build a side and a team to compete.

Theoretical question about promotion..... on 18:50 - Aug 11 with 619 views | Kieran_Knows | Go up and deal with all that it brings. The Championship is great, but I’d love to go up, stabilise and look to challenge for Europe thereafter (appreciate that’s a pipe dream, but Forest, Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton have all proven they can challenge for those European spots). An away day in outer Kazakhstan somewhere would be the b0ll0x. Sorry, getting ahead of myself.

Think of the MLS where there's 0 jeopardy all the time. You can 'win the league' by 30 points and then not even 'win the league' if that makes sense.

I genuinely think I preferred the league one promotion season. Much more interesting grounds and the satisfaction of beating the low block every bloody week! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It's why I'm glad (in hindsight) we went down in 2019. You have to be able to cope with a bit of adversity that comes with playing a league above and losing more games. Some sadly struggled with that last season.
