9 or 8 subs and youth developed players . . . 10:26 - Sep 1 with 278 views | bsw72 | EDIT - Ignore me, section 34.11 There seems to have been a few threads talking about the fact we can only name 8 subs if we have no youth developed players on the bench. Can anyone point out that EFL rule which says that one of the players in the 9 subs has to be developed through the youth system at that club, as I cannot find it, the latest EFL rules for the relevant league subs is as below: 34.4 Substitute Players. 34.4.1 Subject to Regulation 34.4.2, in all League matches, each team is permitted: (a) in the Championship Division, up to nine substitutes of whom not more than five may take part in the match; and (b) in Leagues One and Two, up to seven substitutes of whom not more than five may take part in the match. Each Club is only permitted a maximum of three opportunities to make substitutions during the Competition match. A Club may make more than one substitution at each of its three opportunities. Clubs may make substitutions at half time and any substitutions made will not count towards the maximum of three opportunities. [Post edited 1 Sep 10:27]

9 or 8 subs and youth developed players . . . on 10:59 - Sep 1 with 142 views | TheIpswichWay | It's actually not quite as bad as that: "each Club shall be required to nominate at least one Club Developed Player on either the Squad List, or on the Team Sheet for all League matches (including Play Off matches)" So if one of Baggott, Humphreys or Woolfenden is named in the 25 man squad list then we're covered. I think Harry Clarke might count too having been in our academy before he joined Arsenal. If none of Baggott, Humphreys, Woolfenden or Clarke are in the 25 man list then the only way we could name 9 subs would be if one of them was someone from the academy e.g. Barbrook. | | | |
