One of the best singers I've ever seen live.

R.I.P.

They didn't come much harder than Jimmy

Oh no. That is sad.

Go well Jimmy.

Just seen the news on the BBC website, likewise. Saw him three times and he was dynamic every time. Clear blue sky here but the clouds might as well be gathering.

Poll: Who would you prefer as the new Ipswich manager ?

I saw him at Wickerman in Dumfries a few years back. He was on quite early so didn't draw a massive crowd iirc.

Very sad to have heard of his passing.
I remember seeing ’The Harder they Come’ in a cinema in Notting Hill in the 80’s.
A great Film.
Icon is a ridiculously overused label currently but he really was one and a truly great singer.
RIP 😔

A true great, and second only to Bob Marley in terms of international recognition when it comes to Jamaican reggae artists. He was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

This is a great song, A hit by the Pioneers, it was written and produced by Cliff, and this is his version.

These are the alternative versions that also appeared on the soundtrack album.

I first saw him over twenty years ago when WOMAD was still in Reading. It had been a miserable late afternoon and early evening but it eased off as he came onstage, he opened with this:

Prince Buster telling the crowd to ‘sit back and listen keenly’ while introducing a ‘ a new musical biscuit’, then The Harder They Come being played in that dancehall , is one of my all time favourite film moments . Salut Jimmy, you’ve left a legacy.
