It won't be for everyone, but I think Patrick Marber's obituary for Tom Stoppard is one of the most beautiful pieces of writing I have ever read.

It will take you ten minutes, but contains stories and little images that gently speak of the deep love that some are lucky enough to share in decades' long friendships.

And some cracking, away from the public, intimate (not in that way) photos that illustrate it perfectly, too.
