A genuine ball carrier who can spot a pass on a regular basis . Someone who can cut through the first line , through midfield and pick a pass either behind or to the side of an opposing defender whilst dragging that defence around . On his day but they're few and far between Cajuste can do that job which is why I think we were after Hackney for that roll I'm hoping Dan Neil drives with the ball which for me , in the long term will help the front line That said I'd take another number 9 as I think we need someone who can hold the ball up quite a bit better than what we have whilst also bringing into play the driving midfield player I mention along with the number 10 and the wide players Far more to it than just a striker / new number 9 EDIT - the other thing of note with the "demise" of Hirst , wasn;t Lee Grant our forwards coach before heading off to Huddersfield ? Are we missing him ? Just a thought [Post edited 2 Feb 12:18]

We've largely had Philogene/Clarke and Egeli on the wings so far this season who all want to cut inside and have made our attack very predictable. None of them go on the outside very often and the left wing hasn't got Leif operating in dangerous positions either. This leads to an environment that most strikers would struggle in - we are a big fish so there is little space in behind for through balls, there aren't many cut backs from the by-line and there aren't many crosses (especially early ones) coming in.

The return of Burns may help with that. His instinct (like Davis) is to go towards the byline and cross.
